during my last trip to visit handsome (mid march) we took a day trip out to boulder. i was surprisingly disappointed by the town as a whole. it may have just been the time we were there and the fact that it was the day before st patricks day and it was a weekday, but there was not much going on. i am sure the atmosphere is completely different on the weekend. however, every single marg i tried was absolutely delicious! and that is very hard to find.
we took a scenic route to boulder and enjoyed the mountain views while eating one of handsome's middle school favorites, hot fries. i had never eaten hot fries before and let me tell you, they are delicious! and also extremely addictive. they may be my new favorite road trip snack.
once we got to boulder, we decided to spend some happy hour time at the sink where we enjoyed a beer or two, cream cheese stuffed jalapenos and wings. neither the jalapenos nor the wings were the best i have ever had. both of them tasted more like bar food which to me means it has a generic taste. for some reason all of the spice in both dishes was missing. i always thought buffalo sauce had a bit of spice and lots of flavor, but the ones here were bland. i had one very spicy jalapeno though! regardless of the food, we were there for happy hour and it seemed like an enjoyable place. it was a beautiful day outside and there was lots of people watching to be done. i would go back again.
we wanted to try out multiple places so after the jalapenos and wings, we went to a mexican restaurant that is only a few doors down. we decided to enjoy some happy hour margs and queso. the margs were delicious, i would definitely order one again, but the queso was very strange. it seemed like it was melted cheese mixed with salsa, but the cheese remained stringy. handsome was not a fan at all. i still enjoyed it though. would i order it again? no. not unless i wanted someone else to experience it. it isnt everyday you get to eat such a strange queso!

one thing that i thought was super cute on the square near the university of colorado campus was the super long bike rack that was covered in uniquely painted hands. i am not sure who the lucky people are who painted them, but i really liked how it looked along the street. and it's functional while being beautiful!
we went around the downtown boulder area and i found a great pair of faux glasses at this awesome vintage store (the name escapes my mind)! i have been wanting a pair for a very long time now and never came across any. the best part about them is if my ears start hurting or if i dont feel like wearing them, i dont have to! i also got a pair of sunglasses i like a lot. they have a super cute part on the arms that is carved.
love.

Oh my goodness- The Sink! That excites me- I used to live in Boulder. :-) Lovely post!
