snow!

since oklahoma has had crazy blizzards these past two weeks, i have been lucky enough to experience lots of snow days. and also unlucky enough to have to make up three days of them on my month off. regardless, it was worth every moment! since i may be moving to denver in the near future, i made sure to enjoy my snow filled days that allowed school to be closed. i dont think snow holidays are a very common occurrence in a place where technology exists to actually clear the streets.

during my sixth snow day (yesterday) i got into the valentines mood and sewed paper heart chains to hang in front of my kitchen window. it took me awhile to figure out how to space them exactly how i wanted, but once i did they were perfect! i love them! tulip was even super sweet and got excited about the festivities and joined us at the table. she spent a lot of the day in handsomes lap while he studied.

there is nothing better than making a delicious brunch on a snow day. i made chocolate waffles one morning and they were perfect with syrup and a bit of reddi whip on top. handsome and i made a snowman named albert after the painful wind had dissipated. we were initially going to make a my size snowman version, but the snow was not wet enough to stick together. you couldnt even roll a snowball down a hill and watch it grow! we may have had a bit more success if buddy the elf was here to help us. regardless, i loved albert for the few days he existed. his head has disappeared and only his body is left as a reminder of the wonderful snow day fun.

the rest of the snow days were filled with cuddling, movie watching, copious amounts of eating, dreaming of crafts and creating fun games. i loved every single moment and wish i could experience more of this spoiled life.

(all photos are from my phone because i was too lazy to upload my camera)

not much a baby anymore

a few weekends ago was the twins birthday! naturally, i had to make them hair flowers as their gift. it ended up being a bit complicated because i wanted to keep some for myself. i then wondered if it was weird for me to be wanting to keep something that i am making for two year olds. sometimes i still wonder about this, but usually decide that it's not problem in any way.

i guess i didnt take a picture of the ones i actually ended up giving to them, but here are the ones i kept for myself! haha (excuse how creepy this picture is, i am going to blame it on callie because i was using photobooth to show her what i had made. and to help me to decide which ones i definitely needed for myself haha)

i ended up using fabric that is green with a purple paisley print that callie used on her lapboard and the fabric i used on one of my coffee table stools that is a pink and purple leaf print. they were super cute and perfect for little two year olds.

i also loved how i ended up wrapping them! it was hard for me to decide because i dont have any actual wrapping supplies unless you count saved tissue paper, which has worked very well for me thus far. (excuse the awful lighting. i cant wait to move for this reason)

ever since they were born, tori's color has been purple and toni's color pink, so i used purple and pink tissue paper and tied bows around them out of random ribbons i found in a drawer. i punched holes in the coordinating cards (that i happened to find in another drawer) so i could string them onto the ribbon. i think they turned out pretty cute!

hopefully they wont be too terrible during their terrible twos! i dont think they will though. i love them! and that of course makes all the difference...

future florist?

florist is not a word that i would typically, or ever, use to describe myself in any way. but last weekend i became closer to this word because bailey brought to my attention that we had an amazing opportunity to take a floral arranging class for free in the union! of course i immediately jumped at the chance to improve what very meager skills i have at making beautiful flower creations.

the flowers we got to use are not my favorites (carnations and babys breath), but it was a fun time and even though mine didnt turn out perfect, i feel that i have improved a lot. and we got to keep our flower arrangement!

i wouldnt completely call myself a florist at this point in time, but with some practice (which i see happening frequently in the future) i may have a chance! or at least a chance to be my own florist using fresh flowers i find at target.

look how great they turned out! baileys is superior to mine, especially since i couldnt get that flower at the top to go down more, even when i tried trimming it! next time.

it now sits next to the tv and i get to look at the loveliness when i actually take time to sit down and enjoy selected shows (glee starts soon!!!!!).

we were also lucky enough to be in the last class so we got to take home leftover vases and flowers! i filled my hands with daisys and babys breath in hopes of making it into something beautiful. and i did! i actually think i like it a bit more than the arrangement i did, just because of how natural it looks. it is what it is and it will be what it wants to be. it's pretty however it falls. there is no need to place each stem in its "proper" spot. or maybe i just dont know what good flower arrangements look like. haha

i really do like how free and natural it looks. almost as though i grabbed a handful of flowers out in some beautiful field. kind of like the field of poppies in the wizard of oz (oh how i would love to leap through that field). but i did kind of do that. except i grabbed handfuls of flowers from buckets instead of the ground. i just didnt have to deal with the dirt. and didnt get to leap.

i hope everyone had a lovely easter!

YEAH!

that is what i think about when i look at this lovely picture i took of my sister. and when i think about how productive i was in beginning to put my ideas from the beginning of october into action! as in, i am putting the appleques on my shirts that i bought at mood while in new york! i must say, so i far i am loving them! however, it is very difficult to sew around beads. it was a bit of a speed bump in my project since i had not even considered it. sewing this next shirt will be an interesting adventure due to the amount of beads. but regardless, i love them and cant wait to take pictures to show you! (i initially intended to take before and afters, but naturally, i got way too excited and forgot about it until it was too late. apologies)

for now, enjoy my lovely sister!

and me with my lovely bag (courtesy of cristina by means of an amazing birthday present!) of goodies that enabled me to begin my plans!

Lovely

this past week was absolutely beautiful! the sun was always out and it was the perfect fallesque temperature (only a tad too warm to be actual fall). it was topped off with missing an A by one question on my infectious disease exam on tuesday, getting pho for lunch with cristina and leon in the asian district on wednesday and getting a 100% on my communications exam on thursday (if i didnt, i think i would have cried because is was so ridiculously easy and felt like a waste of time).

after pho, we went to get some boba tea. just like our tradition, i got the best lid sticker thing! (mine is the yellow one). i branched out and tried pineapple. it was extremely sweet. pretty much to the point of being sugar overload. but it was still yummy!
thursday was also cristina's birthday! i made her a new pillow pal because her old one is completely falling apart. i think it came out pretty good if i do say so myself!

Creations!

i feel like i have been extremely behind in blogging, so here are some creations that i have made in the past few weeks! i am very excited about each of them! lets start from first to last...

about a bit over a year ago when i bought my vegan cupcake book, i told cristina that i really wanted to start a cupcake club. it would start with just the two of us and then we would open it up to others once we decided what day would work the best for us and figured out more of the details. well, one of the details was that we needed shirts! i mean, what kind of club doesnt have shirts?!!? needless to say, a shirt company will obviously not print only two shirts, so the project was put on the backburner for quite some time. thanks to tracys creativeness with felt, i figured out the perfect idea for our club shirts! here is one of them. i made one for me and one for cristina and i still have another design to make for each of us. now all we have to do is wait for endo to be over so that we will have time to bake!

i have been wanting to make a fabric ball and knot necklace since before the end of finals. well, i finally made one! and right in time for football season! now, all we have to do is get our offensive line to learn how to play football. seriously, what happened to them, besides all the guys with experience leaving?!

i also made my first skirt ever and plan on wearing it for the football game tomorrow! it is supposed to rain so i cant decide if i should still wear it. but i think i will because i am so excited about it! and what would i wear if i didnt wear it? jeans in the rain...not a fun experience. my oklahoma t shirt dress......the same as the skirt. my other red dress with white on the top and a black band on the bottom....the same as the skirt. so the options are: my skirt that i love and really want to wear, or my very short victorias secret "athletic?" shorts. i think i will be going with my skirt. im glad that it has some pink in it. that way i can get away with wearing my chacos by claiming that they match. i hope this skirt brings some luck! (it looks kind of strange in this picture because its wet. i decided to hand wash it in order to avoid the possibility of the red color choosing to bleed onto my white shirt in the rain. hopefully i will have a picture to post of me wearing it!)

and yes. i am still working on my towel wrap! i have been using it for the past week or so, i just need to add a few finishing touches before i show it to you! these touches involve making buttons, which takes me forever since im not a clay master like carolyn and tracy. therefore, i have been putting it off a bit....and studying diabetes a lot this past week. i must also say, im glad my grades agree!

i have also decided to participate in this letter exchange that i told tracy about! i think all of yall should too because it will be a lot of fun!

What Did I Do?

i have had an extremely relaxing week. in fact, i have no idea where the week went, or what i have done. its a good thing i take a picture everyday to help me remember!

fridaybefore nannying i did an extreme amount of hand washing! i think i did like 6 dresses or something. obviously long awaited.

saturdayas you can tell from the floor, lots of crafting occurred. brig recovered her lamps and we began painting our sign and putting the beads we made on some purple wire!

i also stabbed fig for the first time.

sunday
what a nice relaxing night. i went on a third wheel date with brig and brian! haha

my amazing spinach and feta pretzel at my favorite, the library! it was a bit weird because it was the first time i didnt get beer. i got an lit instead. it was crazy strong. brian doesnt seem to understand the desire of photographing your food. it really is one of my favorite subjects.

i cant remember the name of the event, but every sunday there are live bands in the botanical gardens in okc. this band was labeled as having the genre "variety". we were unsure what that meant until we heard them. i must admit, they were not very good...at all. brian decided he had to leave and watch turtles instead, but me and brig made the best of it and still had a great time! i even managed to embarass brig with my singing! its a good thing brian was with the turtles at that point...
we laid in grass. (there were so many attempts at taking this picture. brig finally had to hold the camera so that i wouldnt cut myself out of it. what can i say, i just like to make sure my friends are included!)

it is the perfect fluffy kind of grass that feels heavenly.

at different points during the "concert", this security guard acted like things were going to get out of control and a bit rowdy. not in this crowd, man! not with this cover "band"!

brian really enjoyed watching the people in front of us dance.

mondaythis is not what i wanted to wake up to. it seriously rained the entire day...not the greatest of pool weather!

tuesday*sigh*, back to my summer haven!

wednesdaybabies! i seriously love them so much!

i also went to the sow with pharmacy people. two of my pa friends showed up too so i was excited! one of them is going to have to live my biggest fear, having to live in an abandoned hospital wing for a month because you are assigned a rotation in the middle of nowhere. i feel bad and am scared for her. besides that, i guess it was fun? i dont know. there was a lot of awkwardness for some reason. perhaps from the fact that two of the people used to be roommates and one was told to move out and did so earlier in the day.

thursday

brig and i were going to go to the art museum and then have drinks over looking the city, but we didnt feel like spending too much money. so we headed to the mont!

irish coffee (and severely pink staw in my water). i have had it before and it never seemed this strong....maybe its the heat? i know, why would we get a hot drink in the summer? well, because it went so well with the dessert!

yummy ice cream brownie covered in whipped cream and chocolate thing!

fridaythats right! i finished eclipse! onto my fifth book of the summer and the last of the twilight series! or saga? i dont know, but you know what i mean!

Caught Up!

sunday
finally. the night we slept on the trampoline! i must say, i slept very intensely. i cant even explain. i woke up in panic though, thinking i was late to watch the twins. dont worry, it was all in my head. i think i was just confused because i slept so amazingly well! it was a bit unexpected.

before bed we......

...had some fun jumping on the trampoline involving break the egg and trying to get a good jumping picture. here is the best
...made sure to succeed in a beer tower/wall. constructed by noah.
...danced to country songs. while sitting of course.
...took pictures before going to sleep in celebration of what we were about to do.
i did take a picture of my view while laying down on the trampoline. however, it didnt come out very well. what i saw was beautiful stars as well as trees. i cant wait to sleep on it again! once tracy gets back im sure it will happen again. mainly because i will make sure of it.

i must say, i really really really want to go camping! i have been wanting to go camping for a very long time, and just havent found the time/people/supplies to do so. hopefully it will come true in august!

monday
i put my sewing machine together! yay! my first time ever and i am very proud of my accomplishment! if you look on the green seat, you see a huge ball of thread. that would be because i bought bobbins because i couldnt find any that came with the machine. well, i ended up finding bobbins hidden in the machine and had threaded one that did not fit my machine! that ball is all the thread i had to roll off the bobbin that was wrong. it will not go to waste though! im sure i can find many projects for it!
tuesdayi have an obsession with avocados. a serious obsession. they are especially good on veggie wrap sandwiches.

wednesdayi went to the pool with brig after watching the twins. it was so relaxing and amazing! we laid by the edge with our feet dangling in the water and i listened to pink floyd. it was extremely enjoyable. not quite as perfect as the ocean, but still great. the birds flew perfectly with the music and it was wonderful watching the clouds change forms. if you have never watched nature to pink floyd, you should do so immediately.

brig loves bugs. she found some and lined them up according to size.

we also made beads for our welcome sign. i cant wait to put the whole thing together!

thursday
i got a great tan today! i guess the trick is staying there for at least 3 1/2 hours. i just hope it stays.

we also got tv! thats right. three months free of channels 3 thru 25!
