Beautiful Bite Sized Desserts

one of my goals for this year (i would say summer but i only have one week left and that is just not even near enough time for success) is to perfect beautiful bite sized desserts. this stems from the fact that a bit over a year ago was my friend libbys bachelorette party. her friend katie made the most amzing cake dots as party favors and i immediately knew that i had to be able to make them! they were absolutely beautiful and absolutely delicious! i really want to post a picture of them, but my computer died and lost everything back in march and i dont feel like searching through backup disks.

this past week, i tie dyed with bailey, cylen and libby and we decided to bring desserts to the celebration. this was my first attempt at making cake dots. lets just say it, i failed! every time i tried to dip them in the chocolate, they would fall apart and i would have to try and put them back together. i cant even explain how much chocolate was covering my hands. i think it was the messiest i have ever been. i decided to bring these "desserts" to the party regardless of how they looked just because they were so ridiculous looking that it would be a shame if no one saw them.

here is a picture of the failure. like i said, complete failure! no one even understood how they turned out so awful. i just think dipped dot desserts arent my calling.

here is my second attempt. they didnt even fall apart when dipped! they are much more attractive, but still not that great. i think its mainly because i lack a dipping device so i resort to using my fingers and then mess up the shape of the dot and wipe off some of the chocolate off the sides. at least they were an improvement! and they are still delicious even if they arent pretty!

i wish i had a picture of the oreo ones cylen made. they sure were something to work towards! i think i will try to make them next time.

love.
