sticky fingers is more than just a feeling

i moved to little rock about three months ago and i have not had the time/money to try new foods like i had hoped, but i have made it out one weekend, and that weekend was the one when i moved. haha! handsome, my dad and i went to a place in the river market district after we unpacked the uhaul called sticky fingers. part of it is a restaurant and part of it is a concert venue. we actually had to show our id to go to the restaurant, strange i know, but unique! almost everything on their menu involves chicken fingers and they come in a very wide variety of flavors with a wide variety of sauces. you can get a basket of them and choose your sauces or choose something else like a quesadilla. that is what i did! handsome and my dad enjoyed their fingers, but i have to say that i think my quesadilla was the best of all! it was spicy, delicious and had a unique flavor that you do not always find in a quesadilla. a nice break after a long moving day!

watermelon candy

after i got off work one afternoon a few weeks ago, i decided to celebrate passing my boards by trying a cupcake from cupcakes on kavanaugh. i had seen this place a few days either when i was exploring different boutiques along the same street, but was not feeling the urge to eat a cupcake. (i dont know what was wrong with me at the time.)

i went in initially craving my favorite cuppies and joe cupcake, the boom boom pow. there were about twelve flavors to choose from, none of which appealing to me like the boom boom pow. i decided to take a leap and try their watermelon cupcake because it sounded fresher and lighter than the other flavors. it is just way too hot outside to eat anything that isnt refreshing. i chose to get my cupcake to go and went home to enjoy it.

i was nervous about my first bite since i have never tried a watermelon cupcake before. this first bite then laughed in my face about being nervous! it was very delicious, but tasted more like watermelon candy. the cake was perfectly moist and the frosting, my favorite part, was absolutely perfect! i would definitely eat this cupcake again! if you do not like watermelon candy, i would not suggest it. it is very very sweet and possibly too sweet for some people.

so after this first trip, i am hooked! who knows what flavor i will try next!

handsome is coming to visit tomorrow and i cant wait! it has been 32 days since we have seen each other and i am so glad that i dont have to wait much longer!

number one!

i am excited to share my first 30 for 30 outfit! i wore this outfit the day after i moved to little rock. handsome and i went to eat some lunch and enjoy an ice cream cone before i had to take him to the airport. i wish he was able to stay longer!

this photo was taken in front of my new favorite store, box turtle, before i knew i would love it so much! the dress i wore to the wine festival and our engagement dinner is from here. i also got a few other super cute things including magnets and snail mail, but that is another story!

shirt: american apparel
skirt: thrifted
scarf: thrifted
shoes: chacos
bag: LOFT
sunglasses: thrifted

we ate at a place called u.s. pizza co. i know pizza and queso do not go together, but i had a craving and we had to try it! i thought the queso was very yummy, but the chips were not good at all. they were those heavy corn chips that you would expect to be served with your queso if you were at a bar. you had to put a lot of queso on the chips in order to try and hide the taste of the chip. it would have been perfect if lighter chips were served with it!

the pizza was very good. the crust was perfect! it was thin, but still fluffy. what i liked the most was the amount of cheese that was on it. there was a pretty patio on the side of the building that was surrounded by plants. i think this would be a very enjoyable place when the weather is not so hot. i will eat here again, but i would like to try other pizza places too.

and now for a funny story! handsome makes me sign the receipts when we go to restaurants. i am not sure why this is, but it is always how we do it. i always sign his name, but for some reason i had issues this day and signed my name. i realized after i put my first name and decided that kirsten kind of looked like preston and then finished the name with petty. handsome wanted to document the first time i signed my name as kirsten petty haha! it was an accident. we laughed about it for awhile and still bring it up sometimes! (this was before we were engaged, but handsome had the ring ready!)

we went across the street to a place called river city and got some very affordable ice cream cones! i got cookies and cream and handsome got strawberry (i think he may have a strawberry obsession). it was very refreshing since it was so hot outside! i did kind of wish i had gotten strawberry though. i feel that it would have had a fresher and colder taste to it.

goodbye norman day two

i am now in little rock and currently trying to get everything organized. it is a super weird feeling being in a place that is so different. in fact, i am filled with mixed feelings. i cannot decide how i feel. it is more of an argument between how i feel and how i am "supposed" to feel. of course i am very excited about this opportunity, i just wish it was in a location where i actually knew someone. i know i will grow a lot from it, but it will take awhile for me to get used to. and now onto happier things...my second day of saying goodbye to norman!

saturday started out perfectly with lunch at my favorite place in the entire world! pink elephant! i am going to miss pink elephant more than i can explain. it is always filled with deliciousness and i love it dearly. i remember when it first opened and they were only open for lunch monday through friday. and then the excitement i felt when it started being open on saturday for lunch. and then sunday for lunch. and then dinner throughout the week! it was amazing being able to watch it grow and the ability to enjoy the loveliness of the elephant at almost any meal of the day. if i ever find myself driving through, i will be stopping for some yummy eats! always! my goodbye meal was the delight plate with the guacamole chicken sandwich on whole wheat berry bread with a side of french onion soup. so yummy! i love you pink elephant, stay delicious!

for dinner, we stuffed ourselves with tarahumaras until we could not move or stuff ourselves more. it was perfect and delicious! after eating we headed over to tracys to have our own little fiesta with margs and salsa music (thank you pandora!). tracy got crazy and entertaining. what a super fun last night!

we were able to squeeze in some pool time between our two very delicious meals. brad was not happy about our pool trip, but he was kind enough to go along with it. it was nice because it wasn't too crowded which made it super easy to find a chair. it did end up raining for a random ten minutes or so while we were there though. don't worry, we got out of the water since there was thunder. we don't want anyone to be electrocuted!
