mountain love with my love: day two

handsome had talked with the front desk weeks before our trip about them setting up white water rafting for us on saturday morning. the front desk ended up failing at that, but it ended up working out better than we originally planned because we did not have to rush our hike or our time at the pool and still got to enjoy white water rafting (it was just pushed back one day).

while walking back from dinner the night before we had seen this super cute doughnut stand that we wanted to try, but we were so stuffed from dinner to even think about dessertor dessert. we decided we were going to eat it for breakfast the next day and that is exactly what we did! we got about one dozen mini doughnuts and some fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade and enjoyed it on a bench before heading on our hike. these doughnuts were absolutely amazing! seriously the best doughnuts ever! i even surprised handsome by buying some more after dinner for dessert during our gondola ride to the other side of the mountain.

handsome had researched different hiking locations in the area and decided on a trail that takes you to bridal veil falls, the tallest waterfall in colorado. you cannot see it, but behind handomes head is the waterfall were we planned on ending our hike.

the scenery was absolutely beautiful and there were multiple spots where we had to cross over smaller waterfalls. the huge waterfall was absolutely gorgeous and the water was freezing cold! you could feel the water from very far away. i was hoping to be able to play in the water, but it was way too intense. and also looked very dangerous. we decided to hike up near the top of the falls, where he proposed!

for some reason i was extremely frightened to cross this weird bridge thing. i would like to blame it on the fact that i was wearing my ring that cannot get wet. too much pressure! dont worry though, i made it across just fine, it just took much longer than a normal person!

one of the weirdest moments of the trip was when we got to our room and wanted to eat our leftovers from the night before for lunch. our room did not have a microwave so we put our food in the sun to try and warm it up a bit. handsome decided to call the front desk to see if there was a microwave somewhere in the hotel that we could use. there was not. instead, they insisted on bringing a microwave to our room! it was so crazy. handsome told them not to bring one up, but they brought it up anyway and, thank goodness, we werent charged for it! it made our meal much more delicious!

after lunch we headed down to the pool to relax, get some sun and cool off. we only had about one hour to enjoy it before we had to start getting ready for the wine festival.

the wine festival was very different than i was expecting and i loved it! there were multiple locations with tents that had many different wineries inside. you would just go from table to table and tell them what you wanted to try or tell them what kind of wine you normally like and they would suggest an option for you. the first tent we went to had our favorite wines of the night. another tent even had lots of different whiskeys to try! handsome took advantage of that one, i knew i would not be able to handle it. after the tents, we walked down the main street of telluride and went into different stores that were participating in the wine tasting. i enjoyed the tents more than the stores only because the stores got very crowded.

we did not purchase any wine, but we did purchase some delicious basil parmesan oil for dipping bread. it is super delicious! i think we ate it everyday for the next week!

one of the wine tastings was in a super cute bookstore called between the sheets. the exciting thing about this place is that we bought our first coffee table book here! we read some of it in the store and found it humorous and decided we would need it for our future coffee table. i left it in denver and cannot remember the name of it, unfortunately.

once the wine tasting ended (it really should have lasted longer because we didnt even make it to half of the locations!) we decided to have dinner at a cute italian restaurant that we found the night before called rustico ristorante. what caught our eye about it was the large patio area they had for dining. since the weather was so nice and the mountains were so beautiful, i wanted to be outside where we could enjoy everything.

the wine list at this restaurant was ridiculous. as in the prices were through the roof! the first crazy price i noticed was $500 (handsome wouldnt even believe me), but there were many that were far worse than that! the couple next to us was super nice and let us know which bottle they got because it was cheap (cheap being $45, cheapest on the menu) and they liked it. we laughed together at the prices and were glad that we found other people who did not think the prices were normal.

handsome ordered linguini that had lots of vegetables and i ordered spinach gnocci. i loved my gnocci! handsome liked my gnocci more than his noodles, but i still believe he enjoyed his meal. honestly, i remember enjoying our dinner together more than i remember how the food tasted. i think it is safe to say that it was the best engagement dinner ever!

we ended up being antisocial after dinner and headed back to the hotel instead of out to the bars because i wanted to see the sunset while on the gondola. we forgot our wineglasses at the restaurant and ended up almost missing the sunset while handsome went back to find them, but he made it back right in time! it was so beautiful! we tried to take a photo of it, but it did not come out for some reason.

this was seriously the best day ever. every time i think about it i cant help but smile! i am super lucky that i get to spend my life with the most amazing guy and have the most amazing adventures together forever!

mountain love with my love: day one

and now for some more photos from our amazing vacation that ended up being our engagement weekend! everything was absolutely enjoyable and i could not have asked for it to be any more perfect than it was. i loved every moment!

once we finally made it to our hotel (it was a six hour drive) we quickly enjoyed the large balcony off of our room, changed clothes and headed to the gondola that would take us to the town on the other side of the mountain. the scenery from the gondola was absolutely amazing! i loved it each and every time we rode it.

we got to the town and walked around a bit trying to decide where we would like to eat. after wandering around a bit, we decided to eat at this cute organic mexican restaurant. we ordered queso and it was one of the largest bowls of queso ever! and it was super delicious. i may consider it to be my favorite colorado queso. either that or i was super hungry and it tasted better than usual! i failed at taking a photo of our actual meal, but all you need to know is that i ate maybe 1/4 of mine and handsome only ate about 1/2 of his because the queso was so filling! luckily our room had a mini fridge so we were able to take the leftovers home for enjoyment at a later time during the trip.

guess what?!

were engaged!!!!

we were hiking up a mountain to bridal veil falls, the tallest waterfall in colorado, and when we got about halfway up to the top of the waterfall handsome got down on one knee! it was the most beautiful place ever and it was very special!

i had wondered if it was going to happen since he had insisted on staying somewhere nice while we were there, but i did not think he would propose until there was no more than three months until i moved to colorado. but i was wrong! and it was perfect the way it turned out!

we are super excited about it and are hoping to have a place for the wedding booked by the end of the week!

it is hard to tell, but we carved p&k engaged 6.25.11 into a tree. lovely!

mountains, wine, water, love, what more could you ask for?!

early tomorrow morning i will be on a plane and headed to denver to visit handsome! and right when i get off the plane we will be making our way to telluride for the weekend! i am super super excited! (like all the exclamations did not give that away or anything) this is also the weekend of the wine festival, but since it is super expensive and time consuming to participate in all the activities, we plan on only attending one wine tasting where we will be able to wander around the town looking at shops while enjoying wine and each others company. we are also going to go white water rafting! and wear helmets and everything! i seriously cannot wait! i feel like it is going to be an amazing vacation in an absolutely stunning location. another thing i am super excited about is using my new camera to get some photos of the landscape. woo hoo! adventures! love!

i cant wait to share it with you when i get back!

the video!

and here is the video! i am very proud of it because it is pretty much the only video i have ever made. i did make one of tulip in the snow about a year ago, but it really only consisted of adding music, this one took much more effort. the song i used is sigh no more by mumford and sons. i hope the video will work, i know that some people had trouble getting videos to play in the past. enjoy!

days i keep reliving

last week was once again, the week of festivals! this is one of my favorite weeks of the year. the week of the oklahoma city festival of the arts and norman music festival! they were both great as always.

i went to the art festival with cristina on thursday (after picking up my cap and gown, woo hoo!). the art was better than it has been the past few years, which was exciting and i made my first art festival purchase! i would tell you what it is, but it is a surprise for handsome and i dont want to give it away. i will reveal it once he knows. there are other purchases i wish i could have made. the artist whom i purchased my item from makes super cute clocks, you can find her stuff here. i plan on keeping her card and maybe making another purchase later, once i have an income. i decided to eat the huge chicken burrito i got last year and it was amazing! we each also bought some cinnamon pecans, which are the best ever if you have not tried them. cristina's baby was apparently craving some sweets because she also got chocolate covered strawberries and a chocolate souffle! both looked very delicious.

on saturday brad and i went to norman music festival (after eating a bunch of queso and salsa at tracy and carolyn's house when they werent there) and met up with cylen for the day. my friend meg came later in the day to hang out at night. i must say, it was the best norman music festival ever! i dont know what it was, but i loved a lot of the music and we had so much fun dancing the day away. seriously though, by the end of the night i could hardly walk because my feet hurt so badly and sunday i could hardly move any part of my body. success! we also got some pine trees to plant, which i am very excited about! and i also bought my first oklahoma shirt that isnt an ou shirt since i will be moving soon. and an album from a band that i liked! at one point during the second to last band we saw, it felt like everyones souls were exploding out of pure joy. it was an amazing feeling! the day was successful and wonderful all around. i loved it. i keep thinking about it and smiling. i took some video footage and made a video with it. i am trying to get it to work on blogger so it should be posted later today or tomorrow. i am excited about it and cant wait to show you!

lightning round!

i have been an awful blogger these past few months in both taking pictures and the actual acts of blogging and reading blogs. because of this i will now do a quick recap of a few things that involve pictures taken from others (a few are my own).

1. bailey and i decided that our picture pose was going to be a moose! since then there have been many moose sightings.

2. tracys birthday fondue! be careful eating cheese fodue while singing the gaston song from beauty in the beast. somehow a chunk of cheese flew off my fork thing and became lost. later in the night i found it in my pocket suck to my phone! hahaha

3. jungle party! i dressed as a tree. and also ended up on the winning flip cup team, 12-1!!!

4. norman music festival! it was awesome! i ended up being able to hear more music this year than last and also bought some super cute coasters. the end of the night was filled with awesome dancing that ended up causing my lovely birdcage necklace to break and fly across the street. i was able to gather up the pieces, but still have not put it back together. i really do intend to fix it though!

5. thirsty thursdays! i also saw my first country concert this night. i only recognized two of the songs, but it was still a good time!

6. cinco de mayo....apparently bailey and i were tricked into taking some tequila shots that had worms in them. worms that were purchased from pets mart and then killed on the bar and put into the shot glasses shortly before ingestion. im just glad that i didnt feel it go down my throat. that would have ended up badly. other than that, we had a really great celebration!

7. hosty! i had not gone to the deli to enjoy the lovely sounds of this one man band in forever. i am glad i got to spend my last sunday night with a free monday morning enjoying it!
