Illiterate?

i always knew i was a slow reader, but it just really occurred to me how slow i actually am this morning when i woke up at 7:30 (two hours earlier than necessary) to finish reading the spirit catches you and you fall down since i needed to discuss it with my professor today. i really think i may quite possibly the slowest reader on the planet. let me give you the example from this morning. yes, i was exhausted when i woke up so early to read because last night was brigitte's birthday so i didnt get much sleep. i only had about 90 pages left to read so i gave myself two hours to read it, figuring that it would be plenty of time. well, an hour passes by and i have only read 28 pages! that is less than one page every two minutes! it really makes me question my ability to read. once i realized how slowly i was reading, i knew it would be impossible for me to finish the other 60+ pages in an hour since i couldnt even read 30, and decided to just go back to sleep. i discussed what i had read with her and i felt like we had a pretty good discussion. i just wish i didnt have to say that i had not finished it yet since to me i looked like i didnt care and didnt put in any effort when i actually did.

another reason why i feel like i cant read is because i listen to all my friends talk about how many books they have read thus far this summer, and their numbers far exceed mine. i feel like i read the same amount as them, but apparently i am about 1/12 as fast haha. well, i guess i will have read more books this summer than i did the last....victory! haha. so far the count is almost two!
