Magical Nights!

tuesday
we decided that we were going to go camping. however, apparently you have to make reservations 2-7 days in advance? and pay? i was unaware. but lucky for us, tracy and carolyn have a great backyard! and also lucky for us, a house that we were able to run into when we woke up to intense freezing winds and sprinkling which then turned into a nice big storm.
who doesnt love swinging from trees?

model!

cleaning up our camping area of intense grass remains

our lovely fire!

weiners ready!

yum! unfortunately for you, i refuse to post the first attempt at this picture. haha!

liking the fire she built

believe it or not, this was my first hot dog to ever eat with mustard on it! i think i have been missing out for years!

yummy smore!!!

thursday
brigittes dad was kind enough to let us treck out to cheddar ranch (unfortunately there wasnt any cheese) with him and his amazing telescope to view the stars! it was absolutely amazing! and very magical! (that was my word to describe almost everything. and by almost i mean that i realized i was using it to describe everything so i then described something as whimsical, but only one thing)

we got to see sooo many cool things, like how MIZAR! (my favorite star name to repeat) is really a double star and his little friend ALCOR (tracys fav). we also looked at exploded starts, other galaxies and many nebulae with lots of dust. one looked like a swan! the big dipper was sooo close looking i felt like i could just reach out and touch it. i just cant even explain how amazing it was!

i also saw fourteen shooting stars! one being the most amazing one of my life! it practically looked like a comet with its amazing tail! i now have high standards for the shooting stars i see.the pads where people set up their telescopes

viewing! and yes, it was absolutely freezing out there surrounded by cow fields. i seriously questioned if it was still summer. i was also concerned about the possibility of frostbite and having to amputate my toes like a couple we saw on the show i shouldnt be alive. (only a slight exaggeration. the frostbite that is. not the questioning of what season it actually was)

we all look a bit crazy in this one (especially me) because being around light was extremely disorienting. i was making an intense effort to keep my eyes open when the camera flashed. clearly, i succeeded in my efforts. tracy failed. haha

all in all. i was very lucky to have some of the most amazing last summer nights! and tonight, a trip to opies! i will be thinking of all of you! and dance intensely as if you were with me celebrating(?) the start of school.

also. it is 75 degrees outside right now? i dont get it. but im not complaining! however, it does feel like sweater weather. and school.....

love.
